BibliOdyssey - This blog has the most amazing scans of antique book illustrations. Nice old botantical, historical, architectual, etc.
teh internets - by goopymart
Hurst's HamBeens - It's getting cold out again. Time for 15 bean soup and homemade cornbread. That'll warm you up. Be sure to have proper ventilation post mealtime.
Street Use - Another great web log by Kevin Kelly (see Cool Tools below). A nod to the cyberpunk/poverty/DIY notion "The street finds its own uses for things.", quoted from, I think, William Gibson's Count Zero. Repurpose manufactured items to do something other than intended.
What Jeff Killed - "...your authoritative source for news and information about Jeff The Giant Orange Cat and his favorite pastime: killing things." More dead bunnies than I'd like to see, but Jeff is handsome, and apparently a pretty successful hunter. Go Jeff!
tetheredtothesun - Rose and Olive make some of the most sensual, sexy photos I've ever seen. Seriously, these photographs are fantastic. I only wish I could produce such work. Words fail me.
Tom Green - Yeah. Well, I've cringed through many episodes of his show. He's almost painful to watch sometimes. But there's something compelling about him. There's vulnerability, but also that annoying, push the joke to the limit quality. I bet I'd get along with him, 'cept I'm sure we'd have fought about his marriage to "Lumpy".
The Official Pauley P Site - Heh. I don't don't know how much Pauley Perrette is like Abby Sciuto on NCIS, but I love the character. There must be a bit of Pauley Perrette in Abby. Fierce but vulnerable, goofy but smart. Weird but sexy. What a great woman. Pauley's journal, at least, is fun and interesting. Are'nt celebs fascinating?
Hooptyrides - I'm not exactly sure what this dude is about, really, except renovating old cars and stuff? Whatever. It's got a cool tone, great pictures, and old cars... and stuff. And then there's the companion site: Jalopy Junktown. Cool old stuff? Junk. Yeah.
when I am King - Great web comic/graphic novel/story. Fabulous artwork. Great story without words, humorous yet poignant.
iheartpixels - r. stevens'... blog? Yeah, I guess, blog. He's the guy what does Diesel Sweeties.
Cute Overload - I'm confident enough in my masculinity to admit that I wuv th' itty-bitty widdle aminals.
Needled - Blog about tattoos. "High brow for the underground. Tattoo couture." Less biker, more artsy.
Make Magazine Blog - Okay, well I already linked to the magazine, but Make has a blog as well. Now, if I could just get the ambition up to actually do a project... This is great stuff. DIY!!!
Wikipedia - Just about as accurate as Encyclopaedia Britannica, but free. I find myself there often.
robot wisdom weblog - This fascinating blog has been around since blogs were called "blogs". After a brief, but controversial hiatus, it's back. I'm glad. I didn't know this until I read the Wikipedia article about him, but Jorn Barger was born in the town I went to college in. It's a small world, innit?

Steelworker's Homepage - All Big Black, all the time. A Big Black discography. Though, truth be told, I'm pretty sure Andy Lester had the definitive Big Black archive first, and still has a lot of important info. I was a member of Andy's awesome Far Post BBS back in the day. But I think he hates me 'cause I was a dick to him at a impromptu Shellac show at Augenblick back in the early 90s. Sorry Andy, call it social anxiety, or call it me being an asshole. Either way, sorry.

If you're a Steve Albini fan, and who isn't? See these sites.

Air America Place - This is the blog and audio archive for radio programs on the Air America Radio network. "Progressive" political talk radio. Guaranteed to get all you "libruls" just as pissed off over politics as the wingnuts.

I recommend Mike Malloy, if you're blood pressure's under control. At least until Marc Maron's back on the air.

AC/DSHE - Yeah. Rock me and roll me! All woman AC/DC cover band.
Make: - Oh man, Popular Mechanics for my, er, GenY? This is gonna be big. At least at my house.
Cool Tools - You remember The Whole Earth Catalog don'tcha? 'Course you do, if you're a child of the 70s like I am. Well, Kevin Kelly was the publisher and editor of it from '84 - '90. He's also closely tied to The WELL, and helped start Wired Magazine. All big influences on my cyber-info life. Cool Tools carries forward the WEC idea in a web site.

This is great stuff, you gotta check out this site!

GOD - "GOD is a monthly photozine compiled of images selected from the world wide web."
By X-8, artist, and co-founder of the L.A. punkzine Flipside.
Suicide Girls - Twenty years ago these would have been my dream girls.
Media Matters for America - Progressive media watchdog group. Monitoring "The Lying Liars".
FAIR - Fairness & Accuracy In Reporting - Media watchdog group. The name says it all.
Diesel Sweeties - My favorite web comic. Sexy robots, retired porn stars, and the battles of the subcultures (goth vs. indie vs. rawk vs. electro). And cool t-shirts!
View from A Broad - Soldier's LiveJournal from Iraq. Great writing, and a "boots on the ground" perspective. Highly recommended.
BoingBoing - The meta-blog of the digerati
William Gibson's Blog - The CyberPunk author. The bulletin board section has a great community of amazing folks.

ASPCA - They gave us Animal Precinct, the saddest show on TV
PAWS - Pets ARE Worth Saving
Lincoln Park Zoo - Best free zoo in the country
Bullshit! - Penn & Teller cry "Bullshit!"
Books - A library catalog application for OS X. It's free. It's awesome. It's as easy as entering the ISBN number and having your database populated without all that tiresome data-entry. Or order a Cue:cat from eBay and just scan the barcodes on your books.

This piece of software exemplifies the best of the Mac community. Elegant, useful software that's freeware. In the spirit of John Norstad's NewWatcher & Disinfectant. In fact, Karr's a colleague of Norstad. (I shook John Norstad's hand once. He must've thought I was a nut. "I'm not worthy!")

An Ode to Olives - All about olives
The Skeptical Environmentalist - "Get your patchouli stink out of my environmental movement!" Are Greenpeace & the World Wildlife Fund really about saving the environment? Or are they about white middle-class hipsters trying to get laid and push a political agenda?
Science Friday - Science news and discussion. Part of NPR's Talk of the Nation " Making Science RadioActive".
